kick ass

The film was based on the comics of the Marvels comic's and was produced at the same time as the book/comic was re-released, but they chose to change the film for the comic because Matthew Vaughan ‘doesn’t do happy endings’ apparently. At around the same time that Kick Ass was released, so was 'How To Train Your Dragon'. It never did actually over take it in the box office, despite many people feeling that it would, but it will still be seen as a successful film, but maybe a film that didn't quite live up to the hype that surrounded it before it was released. The only issues i'd say with the films were that they didn't have much money to make it with, the had to actually change the storyline compared to the comic, and also, one of the worst things that could of happened, did happen, with it getting a 15 certificate, meaning that young lads, who actually read the comics couldn't even go to watch it.

The directors views on the British film industry is that he believes that in a few years, we,  Britain could have the worlds largest film industry. He blames the greedy directors, taking big sums of money for films, and suggests that they should take a cut in order to get us up to the top.

The film did actually use quite a bit of technology. They used green screens and high resolution shots of Manhattan that were edited to make it seem as if it was actually shot there and not actually in London. They saved money in some ways. For example, the film is London, instead of shooting it where it was actually ment to be set, Manhattan.

There was controversy surrounding the film. The fact that they used a twelve year old girl saying the C word and also having her being an assasin and killing people. People argued that it wasn't at all that such a young child should be playing such a part, and saying such things.

The marketing and promotion of the film wasn't very good, and even the creators agreed. In many trailers they showed all of the funny parts of the film, which actually did make some people, who didn't really know what it was about believe that infact it was a spoof movie. These were obviously only the people who weren't aware of what the comic was, or what exactly what it was about.

The editor of the film talks about how he spent 1 and a half years on the film and he also talks about the huge impact having a bigger budget can bring to the film 'world class incredible quality cinematographers, world class crewe, great production design, great music, world class visual effects, double negatives on all the special effects on all the effects in Kick Ass'. He then also speaks about how the night vision seen took him 6 weeks of editing all for 7 minutes worth of film, and that was just the first assembly of it.

The soundtrack of the film was to be put bluntly a failure. It was predominantly John Murphy's sounds throughout the film, despite there also being Henry Jackman, Marius De Vries and Ilan Eshkeri also helping to 'create' a sound track. The point was, that the soundtrack wasn't exactly created for Kick Ass, Murphy used lots of his old sounds from different films such as 'Sunshine' and also from adverts, T.V. and trailers.
