The film Avatar was released in December 2009 and was a huge success at the box office, making $4,007,750 in the USA and was released on 812 Screens. They had an outstanding estimated budget of $310,000,000 for the film, as the special effects that the film required were outragous. So far,worldwide, the film has made $2,039,472,387 and is one of the most successful films ever to be made. 


It didn't feature very many well known stars, with the following being the 'bigger' actors in the film, Sam Worthington, who was the lead actor, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi & Joel Moore who is know for his performance in Dodgeball, which was released back in 2004. 


There were several prodcution companies on the scene, Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation, Dune Entertainment, Ingenious Film Partners and Lightstorm Entertainment. I would say that the genre of Avatar is Sci-Fi, Adventure, and also Action, as it is such an outgoing film. It was directed by James Cameron who is very well know for directing Titanic.
